Scandal at Lazio, Igli Tare brought to trial for perjury

Lazio sporting director Igli Tare has been indicted by the Court of Rome for perjury.

Along with the trial, which was scheduled on 17 October, it will overlook the general secretary of the club, Armando Calveri.

According to the indictment, the two are being protected by lawyer Nicholas Capozzoli, on charges they had filed false statement in the labor office in Rome Mauro Zarate alleging between March and June 2013 was not staying at the headquarters of Lazio in Formello.

For this reason the club had held three months salary in the total figure of 900 thousand euros.

But Zarate has failed to provide the basic elements and evidence shows that at that time he traveled regularly in Formello training.

Tare is expected to be sentenced to jail or a hefty fine after announcement of the decision by the Court.
