Atletico wants Costa, club president confirms

Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has talked up the possibility of re-signing of Chelsea striker Diego Costa.

The Spaniard left the Vicente Calderon in a pre 32 million pound deal in 2014 and scored 21 goals in a brilliant season, first in London, as Chelsea won the Premier League and League Cup.

However, continuing problems with injuries and his form rejected his second season in England, prompting suggestions that the club's new boss, Antonio Conte, will seek to remove him in the transfer market.

Cerezo admits that Atletico is looking to sign a striker and can not hide his admiration for Costa, who won La Liga and Copa del Rey and reach the Champions League final under Diego Simeone.

"We are looking for a new striker, and we always think to get the greatest players we can," Cerezo said, after announcing the schedule of matches in La Liga 2016-17 season.

"Costa played for us for several years and he is a very good player, no one can deny this. I do not know if Conte said as for Costan, but we are working hard to bring the best players in Atletico, "concluded the president of the Spanish club.
